Original Tombleson’s Panoramic map of the Thames and Medway. Issued by James Reynolds 174 Strand London in 1850. Tombleson’s Thames and Medway remains one of the finest maps of the river Thames. It shows the river Thames source in Gloucestershire to the sea and details towns, countryside, landmarks, railways, bridges and roads. It was originally made as a steel engraved black and white print as a folded accompaniment to the book ‘Tombleson’s Thames’ by W G Fearnside in 1834 London. This one came from the BBC library and has the original printed card wrappers behind as well as the BBC stamp. It has been carefully restored to remove the glue from old sellotape and is mounted and framed.
